Empathy, curiosity and non-judgment are indispensable to the therapeutic relationship.

I’m inspired when I feel a shift in myself and in other people.

When doing counselling therapy, I put my own existential struggles to good use.

Like everyone, I’ve made mistakes in life, so I can usually relate on some level to what someone else is going through.

Understanding that the journey through the wilderness is best accomplished with a companion and guide, I work with adults to treat:

  • PTSD

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Addiction

  • Codependency

  • Relationship issues

I employ a variety of therapeutic methods that highlight attachment in adults, especially the treatment of trauma using Somatic Experiencing®.

When faced with life's problems, many people get stuck in a pattern of becoming overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, angry or completely out of control. Others descend into a numb, frozen and shut down state. They struggle to relate with others, find any level of happiness, or even function at all.

Resilience is key.

Resilience allows you to deal with whatever you are confronted with in your life. It is developed through the practice of self-awareness and embracing the here and now of your lived experience.

How I help clients become more resilient...

For many of us, a lack of resiliency is the result of stress and trauma.

I’ll help you navigate your way through the often overwhelming experience of present stressors and past traumas, without re-traumatizing you.

I’ll work with you to develop a stronger sense of self.

A sense of self is a deeply personal experience. It involves knowing, accepting and caring for the person you are - your strengths, limitations, knowing your boundaries and having the courage to set them. The felt sense of self rests on a foundation of self-awareness in the present moment.

It depends on the ability to connect with and manage your emotions, sensations, thoughts, and behaviours in ways that will help you live your life in line with your values, and care for yourself as well as others.

Working with couples is an expanded focus.

Although there are two individuals involved, the main focus is the relationship - the dance created

by you and your partner.

I will collaborate with you to change whatever has become dysfunctional in the weaving together of your two lives. I can help you understand yourself and your partner more deeply.

We’ll explore the life experience you both bring to the relationship, and train in more effective and respectful communication skills.
